Beware of foreign made dental
work. Several recent investigative reports have
found lead in crowns made in China. This is an
obvious health hazard which most vendors of these
products will not disclose.
Besides the health issues, many of
these imported crowns have other issues. So
are made so poorly, they don't fit. In a test done
for WJLA TV (an ABC affiliate), Good Morning America
reported 10 crowns were ordered from 3 dental labs in
China. The results we awful. None of the 10
crowns matched the perscription. They would never
fit properly! The crowns were then sent to a chemical
testing lab where the crowns contained as much as 490
parts per million of lead. Childrens toys, which
only seem like they are in their mouths 24 hours a day,
have a limit of 90 parts per million.
In a seperate test by another ABC
affiliate, WBNS TV 10 in Colombus, Ohio, crowns were
ordered from 4 dental labs in China and the lead content
was 210 parts per million.
The Daily Mail of
London, Engalnd reported that there were 4 cases of
lead poisoning in the USA attributed to Chinese made dental
fixtures.
